Purpose
- The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Calendar of Scheduled Unit Meetings and Program Topics

The Hillsboro unit of United Methodist Women meets monthly from September through April, with special events in May and June. Meetings are held at the church, except as noted, on the first Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m., beginning with coffee. Upcoming programs include these:
- February 3: "A Week on the Bayou Helping Others" by Nancy White and Bev Whitehead, UMCOR volunteers at Sager Brown Depot.
- March 3: "Health and Hispanic Women" Adele Hughes with Providence Health Systems Outreach will be the guest speaker.
- April 7: "Sacred Play: Supporting Loved Ones at the end of Life" presented by Rev. Dean Yamamoto, Hospice Chaplain.
- May 5: Annual Mothers & Others Dessert, 7 p.m., with guest speaker storytell, Pearl Steinberg presenting "Tell Me a Story".
- June 2: Ladies Lunch Out at 11:30. Place to be announced.
- Sept. 1: "The Beauty & Courage of Sudan" by Cathy Whitlock, General Board of Global Ministries Interpreter.
- Oct. 6: "The Latest & Greatest in Hillsboro Schools" presented by Carolyn Ortman, School Board Chair.
- Nov. 3: "Food and Faith", a 2009 Spiritual Growth Mission Study Topic by the Rev. John Pitney.
- Dec. 1: "The Hymns of Christmas" by Laura Jaquith Bartlett.
Three circles, smaller groups for fellowship and study, also meet monthly.
- Love Circle meets the second Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. Chairperson: Linda Clarkson. 503-640-5564.
- Miriam Circle meets the second Wednesday at 9:30. Co-Chairpersons: Ferol Allison, 503-648-5368 and Kitty Crisman, 503-649-1484.
All women of the church are cordially invited to attend all UMW events.
