On July 12, 1843, sixteen people attended a Methodist campmeeting on the Tualatin Plains about 5 miles northeast of Hillsboro. On the following Sunday, sixty people came from the surrounding area and spent the day. This was the beginning of the Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Since that time we have met in homes and several buildings until we came to rest at our current location in 1950. The church has seen many changes, but what has remained is the love and caring of each other and our neighbors.
A monument to the Methodist Meeting House is located 4825 NE Starr Blvd, Hillsboro, OR 97124.
